The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Launches November 5 on Switch 2

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. Nintendo has officially announced the release date, pricing, and a comprehensive list of enhancements for Link's milestone adventure.

The classic title will be available digitally for $59.99 and physically for $69.99. This launch coincides with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition system on October 29, which features a Triforce design. Collectors can also expect anniversary editions of the Pro Controller and carrying case.

The remake features completely overhauled visuals with refreshed textures, faster load times, and symphonic orchestral music. Gameplay has been modernized with improved camera controls via the Right Stick, snappier movement commands, and a remodeled Hyrule that allows for free camera movement in towns and dynamic day/night cycles.

Storytelling receives significant upgrades through fully voiced cutscenes and expanded character dialogue. A new feature called Threads of Time lets players track their progress on a large tapestry and view upcoming objectives at any point during the adventure.

Music integration is a major highlight. Players can hum melodies that Link has learned to trigger songs in-game using the system's built-in microphone. Later this year, HORI will release an electric ocarina accessory that allows users to play notes or entire songs with the press of a button, alongside a playable version for musicians.

Collectors can look forward to new amiibo figures of Young Link and Young Zelda launching in 2027. These figures will unlock special in-game masks featuring a retro graphical style. Additionally, Mineru's Construct amiibo for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases on September 17.

A new service called ZELDA NOTES is available via the Nintendo Switch App for compatible smart devices. It supports The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with features like a chronological record of daily accomplishments, a "Gossip Quest" to find locations using hint images, and a virtual ocarina playable on touchscreens.

The app also includes an extensive quiz mode with over 2,000 questions to test knowledge of the game. Players can take the quiz once a day or spend in-game rupees for extra attempts. A daily challenge feature encourages players to find specific locations using hint images to earn points toward music scores.
