NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 becomes most popular GPU on Steam
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 has officially taken the lead in the Steam Hardware Survey, becoming the most popular GPU among users. With a 6.15% market share, it has surpassed the former champion, the RTX 3060, which saw its prevalence drop by 0.26%, sliding to fifth place overall.
The Rise of the RTX 50 Series
The entire GeForce RTX 50 series is seeing increased adoption, with the RTX 5070 leading the surge with a 2.38% monthly growth. Other models in the lineup also gained ground: the RTX 5060 grew by 1.24%, and the RTX 5060 Ti increased by 1.51%. The latter's growth is likely driven by the 8GB variant, given the significant price gap between it and the 16GB model.
Higher-end models showed more modest gains, with the RTX 5080 up by 0.27% and the RTX 5070 Ti by 0.05%. Meanwhile, the RTX 5090 experienced a slight decline of 0.03%, likely due to the premium pricing of its high-memory configurations. The RTX 5050 maintained its current market position without any changes.
Market Competition
While NVIDIA expands its footprint, competitors from AMD and Intel have failed to show any growth in the survey. The Radeon RX 9070 XT remains the most popular non-NVIDIA alternative, but it holds only a 1.42% share. There is currently no significant presence from the Intel Arc B580 or the Radeon RX 9070 GRE in the top rankings.
It is notable that the RTX 5070 has overtaken the RTX 5060 for the top spot, a shift from historical trends where the '60 class' cards typically dominate. This trend may be influenced by the rise of prebuilt systems, where system integrators often utilize mid-range GPUs like the RTX 5070 to balance performance and cost in ready-to-ship builds.
