Hellblade developers at Ninja Theory appear to begin redundancy process

Following recent reports that Ninja Theory, the creators of Hellblade, could face closure after two buyout deals fell through following their split from Xbox, developers at the studio appear to be undergoing redundancy procedures.

Several developers from Ninja Theory have taken to LinkedIn to announce that their roles are at risk or that they are actively searching for new employment. Technical sound designer Alessio Mellina confirmed his position is at risk of redundancy, noting his focus on UE Blueprint scripting and Wwise integration. Performance capture technician Xoe Suvari also announced their departure, expressing that despite the outcome, they would choose to work at the studio again.

Gameplay programmer Katrin Mair shared her sadness regarding the unreleased Senua project, suggesting the game may remain unfinished. While the official fate of the upcoming title has not been formally confirmed, her comments reflect the uncertainty surrounding the studio's current projects. Mair noted the immense effort and talent invested into the game over the last four years.

The wave of departures includes technical director Loong-Wei Ding, sound designers Matteo Tummino and Daniele Galante, senior technical artist Matt Le-Fevre, and character artist Pietro Berto. The staggered nature of these announcements suggests that staff may be being informed of the redundancies in waves.
