4K-Dual-Hz, SLMB-Sync, and Fast IPS Black: MSI Unveils MAG 322URD16
MSI has introduced the new MAG 322URD16, a 32-inch gaming monitor designed for players who demand versatility in resolution and refresh rates. The standout feature is its Dual-Hz capability, allowing a seamless switch between high-resolution 4K and high-speed Full HD.
Dual-Hz Versatility and Panel Quality
The 31.5-inch display (31.5-inch viewable area) operates in two distinct modes. In its native 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160), it delivers up to 165 Hz, resulting in a pixel density of approximately 140 ppi. For users prioritizing minimal input lag and maximum fluidity, the monitor can switch to Full HD (1920 x 1080) to reach refresh rates up to 480 Hz.
The device utilizes a Rapid-IPS panel enhanced with IPS Black technology, providing a 2,000:1 contrast ratio—a significant improvement over standard IPS panels. Color performance includes 129% sRGB, 95% DCI-P3, and 90% Adobe RGB coverage. The panel supports 10-bit color depth (8-bit + FRC) and reaches a peak brightness of 400 cd/m².
Features and Connectivity
To combat motion blur, MSI has included the SLMB (Super Low Motion Blur) tool, which can be used alongside SLMB-Sync in conjunction with FreeSync Premium or G-Sync Compatible (Adaptive Sync). Additional features include a built-in KVM switch, PiP/PbP (Picture-in-Picture/Picture-by-Picture) modes, and a smart crosshair overlay.
Regarding connectivity, the monitor features two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4a, and a USB-C port supporting DP-Alt Mode (up to 15W Power Delivery). It also includes a USB hub (3.2 Gen 1) with two Type-A ports and one Type-B port. Notably, DisplayPort 2.1 is absent. The ergonomic stand allows for height adjustment (up to 100 mm), tilt, pivot, and swivel, and it is VESA 100x100 compatible.
While the monitor is DisplayHDR 400 certified, the lack of local dimming means users should not expect high-end HDR performance. MSI has not yet announced the official release date or pricing for the MAG 322URD16.
