Sony testing a new rewards program for digital purchases
Sony might be working on a new way to reward its users. Following the 2025 discontinuation of the PlayStation Stars loyalty program, players are reporting a new type of incentive appearing within the PlayStation Store.
As reported by multiple users and highlighted by PlayStation Lifestyle, Sony appears to be testing a rewards mechanism for digital purchases. Eligible customers are reportedly receiving $10 in store credit upon purchasing specific digital titles. This promotion is currently listed as a limited-time offer, set to run until September 29.
The participating titles are mostly recent releases from the past month. The list includes:
- Hot Wheels Infinite Rush
- Halloween: The Game
- Onimusha: Way of the Sword
- The Blood of Dawnwalker
- Star Wars Zero Company
- Mortal Shell II
- Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
- Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2
At this stage, Sony has not officially announced a new loyalty program, with the promotion appearing only within specific product listings in the PS Store. It remains to be seen whether this is a direct successor to the defunct PlayStation Stars or a strategic move to encourage digital adoption as the company moves away from physical discs.
It is unclear whether this is a one-off promotional event or the early testing phase of a broader, more permanent rewards system for the PlayStation ecosystem.
