ASUS Zenbook 14 Launch: 1.1 kg, Ceraluminum, and 30-Hour Battery Life
Following its reveal at Computex 2026, ASUS has officially launched the new Zenbook 14 series. This generation simplifies its naming convention by dropping suffixes like "Pro" or "S," instead focusing on three distinct hardware platforms: AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm. We’ve received an ARM-based unit for testing to see how it performs in real-world scenarios.
ARM Platform and Ceraluminum Construction
The Zenbook 14 UX3480QA is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X1-26-100, an eight-core processor featuring integrated Adreno graphics. A standout feature is the dedicated NPU delivering 45 TOPS, enabling Copilot+ features like Live Captions and Windows Studio Effects. To manage the 28W TDP, ASUS has increased the fan size by 32% to optimize airflow within the chassis.
The laptop features Ceraluminum, a proprietary ceramic-infused metal surface developed over four years. According to the manufacturer, this material is up to three times harder than anodized aluminum. The chassis is MIL-STD-810H certified and comes in three finishes: Komodo Coral, Arctic Blue, and Zabriskie Beige.
Display Options and Battery Life
The series offers two distinct 16:10 OLED display configurations. The entry-level FHD model (1920 x 1200) operates at 60 Hz with 300 cd/m² brightness. The premium 3K OLED option (2880 x 1800) features a 120 Hz refresh rate, 1100 cd/m² peak brightness in HDR, and reinforced cover glass, which brings the device's weight up to 1.3 kg. The lightweight FHD version weighs just 1.1 kg.
Battery life is a primary focus for the ARM-based model. Equipped with a 50 Wh battery, it promises over 30 hours of video playback or up to 18 hours of web browsing. A 68W USB-C charger can replenish the battery to 50% in 30 minutes while the device is in standby or powered off.
Specifications and Pricing
Memory options are limited to 8 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR5X (8533 MHz) paired with a 256 GB or 512 GB PCIe SSD. Connectivity includes two USB-3.2 Gen2 Type-C ports, one USB-3.2 Gen1 Type-A port, HDMI 2.1, and an audio jack. Notably, Thunderbolt and USB4 support are absent in these configurations. Global pricing starts at $799 for the base model, while the 16 GB glass-covered version starts at $999.
