LNZ explains why MIBR failed to defeat Legacy in FISSURE Playground 3
MIBR captain Linus "LNZ" Holtäng shared his thoughts on the team's semifinal loss to Legacy at FISSURE Playground 3. In an interview with HLTV.org, the Swedish leader discussed the squad's struggles in decisive moments, the adaptation process of Martín "tomaszin" Corna, and the challenges of facing a highly unpredictable opponent.
MIBR falls short in FISSURE Playground 3 semifinal
MIBR failed to reach the grand final of FISSURE Playground 3 after a 1:2 series defeat against Legacy. While the team secured a victory on Nuke, they were unable to close out Inferno despite holding an early advantage that led to overtime. LNZ pointed to individual performance as a key factor in the outcome.
"We still lack a little experience in such big matches. This was the first semifinal for this roster, and perhaps none of us had our usual individual performance today. In the end, they hit their shots better and made fewer mistakes," LNZ stated.
Roster integration and tactical development
The captain highlighted that the team is still navigating the complexities of playing with a new lineup. Specifically, the integration of Martín "tomaszin" Corna and the limited time spent playing with nqz have made it difficult to convert early advantages into round wins on maps like Nuke.
"With tomaszin still being new to the team and because we haven’t played that much with nqz, it is still difficult for us to play out these situations perfectly. But we are moving forward. We need to go through a certain process of trial and error and learn from it before the next tournament," LNZ explained. The team is currently focusing on improving coordination and reactions to unexpected match scenarios.
The challenge of facing Legacy
This encounter marked the seventh meeting between MIBR and Legacy in 2026. Although the result was another loss, LNZ believes the team showed significant progress in their approach. He noted that MIBR adjusted their game plan for this series, which yielded better results than previous attempts.
"Today was probably the closest we have come to beating them compared to our other defeats. We also changed our game plan a little, and I think it worked. But in the end, we failed to capitalize on all of the situations," the captain said. He also described Legacy as a "wildcard" opponent, noting their ability to win rounds through exceptional individual play that is difficult to read.
MIBR concludes FISSURE Playground 3 in the top four. For the updated roster, the tournament served as a vital preparation stage for refining coordination and adapting to the new lineup.
