South Korea's LoL Team Secures Back-to-Back Asian Games Gold

The South Korean League of Legends national team has returned to the country following their victory at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The squad secured their second consecutive gold medal, defeating Chinese Taipei 3-0 in the final.

The final, held on October 2 at the Aichi Sky Expo, saw South Korea overcome a mid-game deficit in the first two games to secure a comeback victory. This win follows their gold medal performance at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games (held in 2023 due to COVID-19).

The gold-medal roster included Zeus (Choi Woo-je), Gumayusi (Lee Min-hyeong), Zeka (Kim Geon-woo) of Hanwha Life Esports, Canyon (Kim Geon-bu) of Gen.G Esports, and Keria (Ryu Min-seok) and Faker (Lee Sang-hyeok) of T1, led by coach Kang Dong-hun. This marks the second Asian Games gold for Zeus, Keria, and Faker.

Speaking at Incheon International Airport on October 3, Faker expressed his gratitude for the experience. "It was an honor to contribute to our second consecutive gold medal. It was a meaningful and sacred moment, and I am very grateful," he stated. The veteran mid-laner also reflected on his journey, which began with a silver medal at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games.

With the Asian Games concluded, the focus shifts to Worlds. The players are now returning to their respective professional teams to prepare for the League of Legends World Championship. Faker noted that while the national team collaboration has ended, he hopes all players perform at their absolute best on the world stage.
