FINAL FANTASY XIV 7.55: How to Start Occult Crescent: North Horn

Patch 7.55 adds the northern Occult Crescent, Forked Tower: Magic, new phantom jobs, elemental weaknesses, and the final Phantom Weapons stage. The safest route is to confirm level and prerequisite quests first, open North Horn, and only then divide attention among the patch's separate quest lines.

Requirements Before You Begin

The new field content requires a level 100 Disciple of War or Magic. Average item level must be at least 690, with item level synced to 700 inside. A standard party has eight players and an instance may last up to 180 minutes.

The opening quest is Occult Reunion. The Expedition Messenger offers it in Tuliyollal at X:17.2, Y:11.8 after Mysteries Abide. Clearing Forked Tower: Blood is not required, so that duty does not prevent access to the new area.

Entering North Horn

After unlocking the area, speak with Jeffroy in the phantom village at X:4.5, Y:6.6. The party leader must initiate entry for a premade group. Characters may change between available level 100 combat jobs outside battle when no other restriction applies.

Ground mounts are permitted in North Horn, but flying is disabled. Mount speed begins one level higher and the North Horn riding map earned inside grants another level. Attune to Aethernet shards as you explore because they greatly shorten travel across the field.

Knowledge Level 20 to 40

Knowledge replaces normal experience within the Occult Crescent. Quests and defeated enemies raise Knowledge Level, which affects Forked Tower access and combat effectiveness. A higher-level enemy deals more damage and takes less, but awards more Knowledge when defeated.

Patch 7.55 raises the cap from 20 to 40. South Horn syncs the level to 20 while still allowing Knowledge gains. Above level five, returning to camp without a revive or leaving while incapacitated removes Knowledge, making a safe party resurrection particularly valuable.

Knowledge Crystals and Elemental Weaknesses

Knowledge Crystals resonate with certain phantom actions and grant party effects such as reduced vulnerability to specific attacks or increased movement speed. Their value depends on the phantom jobs in use, so coordinate actions before a difficult encounter instead of triggering every option without a plan.

The elemental weakness system adds another preparation layer. The official notes confirm the mechanic without spoiling every encounter. Watch the area's cues, adjust phantom actions away from danger, and do not assume that a successful South Horn routine automatically solves the northern fights.

Phantom Weapons, Hildibrand, and Allied Societies

The final Phantom Weapons chain starts with Under No Illusion from Lydirceil in The Phantom Village at X:6.6, Y:7.1. It requires level 100 and A Phantom Reborn. Later quest names are hidden in the official notes, so follow the new quest marker after the opening step.

For Hildibrand, take Detecting a Lead from Hardiboiled in Solution Nine at X:17.0, Y:18.3 after Meteorites and Meteor-wrongs. The allied society capstone begins with Touring Tural from Zelihali in Tuliyollal at X:8.8, Y:13.3 after Partners in Pel, The Pride of Mamook, and With High Spirits.
