EWC Last Chance Qualifier Groups Revealed as Liquid and NRG Fight for Spots
Team Liquid and NRG Esports are set to battle for two of the four available spots at the upcoming Esports World Cup. The organizers have officially revealed the team list and group draw for the 2026 Last Chance Qualifier. Sixty-four teams from around the globe will compete on LAN for a chance to join the 28 squads directly invited to the French main event, where they will fight for a share of the $2 million prize pool.

The format for the LCQ is designed to be brutal: the group stage operates on a double-elimination basis, while the playoffs switch to single elimination. This structure leaves little room for error, even for the top-tier squads. Liquid and NRG, ranked among the highest in the world, are considered the favorites to advance from their respective groups. However, the playoff rounds promise to be a true toss-up, where any team can upset the odds.

The field for this qualifier includes a mix of established powerhouses and rising contenders. Notable participants include 1win, 100 Thieves, 9INE, Acend, BC.Game, Betclic, BIG, DENDELE CS, Echo, Eternal Fire, EYEBALLERS, Fluxo W7M, Fnatic, FOKUS, Gentle Mates, HEROIC, HOTU, INFINITE, Inner Circle, K27, Metizport, OG, SAW, and Virtus.pro.

The tournament is scheduled to kick off on August 7th. For North American teams like Liquid and NRG, this qualifier offers a critical opportunity to secure their place on the global stage, where they will face the toughest competition for a spot in history's most prestigious LAN event.
