Control Resonant: PS5 and PS5 Pro Technical Details Revealed
With the launch of Control Resonant approaching, Remedy Entertainment has detailed how the sequel will leverage the hardware of PlayStation 5 and the DualSense controller. Ahead of the September 24 release, the studio provided specifics on performance modes, visual quality, and haptic feedback.
Set in a twisted version of Manhattan, the main story is expected to take between 25 and 35 hours to complete, with additional content available for completionists. On PlayStation 5, players can track main quest progress via Activities, and Game Help will be introduced post-launch. The game is built around a gameplay-driven experience, designed for 60fps from the outset to ensure responsiveness.
A major focus is the integration of DualSense adaptive triggers. Different combat abilities, such as Barrage or summoning a Volatile Anomaly, will provide varying levels of trigger resistance to create a tactile connection to Dylan's powers. Additionally, 3D Audio support will be available for users with compatible headsets to enhance immersion.
Performance and Visual Modes
On the standard PlayStation 5, players can choose between two modes:
- Performance mode: targets 60fps at 1440p.
- Quality mode: targets 30fps at 2160p.
For PlayStation 5 Pro users, the studio is utilizing PSSR to offer three distinct options:
- Performance mode: targets 60fps at 2160p.
- Quality mode: targets 30fps at 2160p with ray tracing enabled.
- Balanced mode: targets 40fps at 2160p with ray tracing (requires a 120Hz-compatible display).
The game world features visually distinct Zones, with near-instantaneous fast travel between them and access to the Gap, a liminal space within Dylan's mind used for upgrades and crafting.
