Control Resonant: Details on Remedy's Control Sequel
Remedy Entertainment has shared new details regarding Control Resonant, the sequel to the acclaimed Control. The developers are promising a significant evolution for the series, blending action with RPG elements, superhero-style movement, and a more expansive world.
Players will step into the shoes of Dylan Faden, the younger brother of the original protagonist Jesse Faden. The story takes place in a distorted Manhattan facing a paranatural crisis, where players must combat threats like the Hiss, the Mold, and other cosmic entities that have escaped the Oldest House.
RPG Mechanics and Character Progression
The sequel introduces a much deeper progression system than its predecessor. In addition to a sprawling talent tree for Dylan, players can upgrade various weapon forms, select secondary weapons, and choose specific combat abilities. The game also features bespoke combo finishers that can fundamentally alter combat approaches.

The environment itself reacts to player progress. As players dominate fights and complete quests, the level of a specific area increases, providing bonuses. However, defeating Resonant Entities (area bosses) makes the world actively more dangerous.
Exploration and Movement
Manhattan in Control Resonant is not a traditional open world, but a collection of densely packed, highly designed zones. Each location offers its own challenges and activities, from hidden collectibles to side quests.

Movement is significantly enhanced. As a parautilitarian, Dylan can jump, glide, dash, and run at extreme speeds. Later, players can manipulate gravity to travel up vertical surfaces and even walk on ceilings, offering a superhero-like traversal experience.
Platforms and Release
The release of Control Resonant is scheduled for September 24, 2026. The game will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5. Thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere, console owners can play on PC at no additional cost.
