CS2 Rush Hour Update: New Gamemode and Pet Chickens

Valve has released a major update for Counter-Strike 2 titled "Rush Hour." The headline feature is the brand-new Rush gamemode, complemented by a surprising addition: a fully functional system of collectible pet chickens.

Rush is a fast-paced 3v3 ranked format where teams navigate through a series of randomly selected combat arenas. The objective is to seize control of the opponent's tower or eliminate the entire enemy team. Each round operates under a limited budget and time constraint, requiring strategic resource management. If the match reaches a 7-7 tie, a sudden death round takes place on a moving train map, where players must reach the tower without falling off the train to secure an 8-7 victory.

The pet system adds a layer of long-term collection to the game. Players can obtain eggs through bids in the Armory. These eggs require approximately one week of real-world time to hatch into chicks. The growth process follows four distinct stages: egg, chick, pullet, and adult hen. There are three specific breeds available—Catalana, Silkie, and Polish—each featuring dozens of color variants based on unique seeds. These pets are non-tradable, non-marketable, and players can only own one pet at a time.

Other significant changes included in the update are:

• Premier Mode: The map selection process has been revamped. Instead of a standard ban phase, teams now alternately select two maps each. A final map is then chosen randomly from the four selected.
• Combat Mechanics: A new silent reloading mechanic has been introduced (by holding the reload button), which is slower than standard reloading. Additionally, detaching scopes from sniper rifles is now completely silent.
• Visuals & UI: Blood splatter and bullet traces are now more noticeable. The update also brings back Clan Tags, allowing players to display their Steam group tags next to their nicknames.
• Customization: New crosshair shapes and parameters have been added to the settings.

Additionally, a new Music Kit by Starjunk 95 is now available in-game.
