Bazzite testing builds add NVIDIA suspend and power-management fixes
The Bazzite distribution has introduced power management and suspend behavior improvements for systems using NVIDIA graphics in its testing branch.
The Bazzite distribution has rolled out several updates to its testing branch targeting NVIDIA graphics cards. The changes focus on dynamic GPU power control and system sleep behavior. These fixes first appeared in testing build 44.20260801.2, which shipped with Linux kernel 7.1.5-ogc5.1 and the NVIDIA Open driver 610.43.03. The latest testing release, version 44.20260804, continues to use the same driver while upgrading to Linux kernel 7.1.6-ogc2.1.
The updates introduce a new NVIDIA power configuration file and ensure that required NVIDIA services are enabled. Additionally, extra modprobe options have been added to handle sleep states more reliably.
Commit descriptions indicate these changes aim to improve runtime power management and suspend/wake behavior. However, while the fixes may theoretically reduce unnecessary GPU power usage on laptops with hybrid graphics, Bazzite has not published independent test results confirming battery life improvements.
Users experiencing NVIDIA suspend or power-management issues on Linux may find these testing builds useful. Nevertheless, as this is a pre-release branch, it can include unrelated regressions and is not recommended as a replacement for the stable release on production systems.
