World of Warcraft Hotfixes: Class Adjustments and PvP Balance
Blizzard Entertainment has released a list of hotfixes dated September 22, 2026. The update addresses various issues across World of Warcraft: Midnight, Mists of Pandaria Classic, Burning Crusade Classic, WoW Classic Era, and Hardcore, alongside PvP, dungeon, and quest fixes.
A primary focus of this update is class balancing. Specifically, developers are reducing the AoE damage of Blood Death Knight to align with intended tanking targets. To compensate, Death Strike received a 15% damage increase, and the Deathbringer hero talent tree was buffed to improve single-target performance.
Other notable class adjustments include:
- Frost Death Knight: Significant damage increases for Frostreaper and Obliterate (non-PvP).
- Unholy Death Knight: Buffs to Scourging and Blightfall to boost raid performance.
- Demon Hunter: Improvements to Annihilator (Devourer) and Aldrachi Reaver (Havoc/Vengeance) to increase their viability in various content.
- Evoker: Augmentation received substantial buffs to Fire Breath, Eruption, Upheaval, and Blistering Scales.
- Devastation Evoker: AoE ability buffs aimed at improving performance in Mythic+.
- Mage: Fire Mage received a boost to "Meteor" DoT, while Frost Mage saw increases for Comet Storm and Glacial Assault.
- Shadow Priest: Targeted buffs to single-target damage, including Mind Blast and Void Blast.
- Retribution Paladin: The Templar hero talent received a throughput increase to compete with Herald of the Sun.
In PvP, the changes focus on mitigating burst damage and crowd control. Fire Mage saw a reduction in Pyroclasm damage, and Survival Hunter received nerfs to Takedown abilities. Adjustments were also made to Restoration Druid (increased Nature’s Swiftness cooldown) and Shadow Priest mechanics.
Beyond combat, the hotfixes resolve issues in dungeons like Altar of Fangs and Temple of Sethraliss, update the Rustbolt Jetpack firmware, and fix various quest bugs, including the Curse of Ula'tek storyline.
