Oukitel has unveiled further details for the RG14-P, a rugged Windows laptop featuring a photovoltaic module integrated into the display lid. The device is designed for technicians, emergency responders, and other professionals who need to operate for extended periods away from reliable power sources. While the laptop was first shown at the Mobile World Congress in March, the recent announcement at IFA 2026 provides specific data on solar charging performance, final hardware specifications, and the planned market launch.

The solar module embedded in the display cover is intended to recharge the battery under suitable sunlight conditions. Current reports indicate a charging power of 10 W under optimal conditions. Oukitel states that a fully depleted battery can be charged to 50% in approximately six hours. This solar module is not a replacement for a standard power adapter; rather, it serves as an additional energy source to extend runtime or enable limited operation in emergency situations. Weather conditions, sun angle, temperature, and shading can significantly reduce actual charging efficiency. There is currently a discrepancy in reported figures: while several sources cite a maximum of 10 W, Notebookcheck mentions up to 15 W. Without a final technical datasheet, the higher figure should not be considered confirmed.

The RG14-P combines an integrated 3,000 mAh battery with a removable 5,200 mAh energy storage unit. According to the manufacturer, these components together provide a capacity of approximately 95 Wh. The swappable battery may be even more critical than the solar module in remote deployment areas, as users can carry charged spare batteries and swap them without fully shutting down the system. When connected to a power outlet, the laptop supports wired charging at up to 65 W, allowing for significantly faster recharging via the power adapter than through the solar cells.

Internally, the device is powered by an "Intel" Core i7 processor of the 14th generation, paired with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB expandable SSD. It runs Windows 11. The 14.1-inch touchscreen is designed to reach a brightness of up to 1,000 cd/m², ensuring visibility outdoors. Industrial interfaces such as Ethernet, HDMI, and RS-232 are supplemented by standard USB ports. A rotating camera, NFC, and a fingerprint sensor are included to facilitate flexible login and documentation. Oukitel also cites IP68 and IP69K ratings for protection against dust, temporary immersion, and high-pressure water jets. However, earlier reports indicated that the corresponding certification tests were still ongoing. Before the market launch, it is advisable to verify which protection classes Oukitel actually guarantees for the production unit.

Weighing approximately 3.7 kg, the RG14-P is not a lightweight travel laptop despite its 14-inch display. The reinforced chassis, covered ports, edge protection, and integrated carrying handle clearly indicate that durability was prioritized over a slim design. An optional large-area camping or work light is also expected to be available. The launch is currently expected in November 2026, though Oukitel has not yet announced a price. While the solar module alone does not make the RG14-P energy-autonomous, combined with the swappable battery, it could offer a practical advantage for outdoor work and emergency response operations.
