Logitech G has unveiled the Blue Yeti 2, a major overhaul of its iconic USB microphone series. The standout feature is the 3D-Spracherkennung technology, powered by an integrated proximity sensor that automatically adjusts levels, tone, and polar patterns based on the speaker's position. The device also incorporates AI-driven noise reduction and an interactive display.
Hardware and Interface Upgrades
While the Blue Yeti 2 maintains the classic aesthetic of the original Yeti, the internal hardware has been completely redesigned. The microphone utilizes a newly developed system of three condenser capsules, supporting up to 24-bit resolution at a 48 kHz sampling rate for detailed audio capture. Notably, Logitech has not specified the frequency response range for this model.
User interaction has been modernized with a tactile rotary knob for on-device settings and a capacitive mute button. Connectivity is handled via USB-C, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack provides zero-latency real-time monitoring. The package includes a desktop stand, though the 5/8-inch thread allows for mounting on standard microphone arms.
Smart Features and Display
The most significant innovation is the intelligent 3D proximity sensor. Through a process Logitech calls "Pattern Steering," the microphone detects the speaker's position in 3D space and continuously adjusts input gain, EQ settings, and the polar pattern to maintain consistent audio quality. This allows for seamless recording even if the speaker moves closer to or further from the device.
To handle environmental noise, such as mechanical keyboard clicks, the microphone employs AI-based noise reduction. Audio processing is further enhanced by integrated Blue-VO!CE technology, allowing users to apply professional-grade processing—including a 10-band equalizer—directly via hardware without taxing the PC's CPU. A 1.3-inch color display on the chassis provides real-time feedback on input levels and polar patterns. Users can also customize the display via Logitech G Hub, including an animated Yeti avatar that reacts to the audio signal.
