Eizo Unveils CG3200X: First QD-OLED Monitor for HDR Post-Production

Eizo has unveiled the ColorEdge CG3200X, a 31.5-inch 4K UHD QD-OLED monitor designed specifically for HDR post-production workflows. As the first OLED model in the ColorEdge lineup, it combines the company’s long-standing color management expertise with quantum dot OLED technology, targeting creators who master projects in HLG, PQ, and SDR formats.

The display achieves a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m² and a full-screen white brightness of 300 cd/m², with a contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1. These specifications are intended to reproduce both bright highlights and deep shadows with high fidelity, addressing a common limitation in standard OLED panels where the Automatic Brightness Limiter (ABL) often dims the entire screen during bright scenes.

Advanced ABL Control System

To mitigate ABL-induced dimming, Eizo has developed a new control system that maintains higher brightness thresholds before dimming occurs. When ABL is active, editors can choose between two modes: Highlight Dimming, which reduces the brightness of only the brightest areas, or Uniform Dimming, which adjusts the overall screen luminance evenly. An additional ABL Safe View mode allows users to reduce the active display area to 10% or 25%, lowering the average brightness and minimizing the likelihood of dimming to facilitate highlight evaluation. Luminance warnings and front bezel indicator lights provide clear feedback on ABL status during critical review sessions.

SDR Precision and Artifact Suppression

Since SDR content is typically mastered for displays with much lower contrast ratios, the CG3200X allows users to customize the contrast ratio from 500:1 to 2000:1 in 100-step increments. This feature ensures more accurate SDR representation on an OLED panel. Additionally, the monitor includes a dedicated correction circuit designed to suppress color bleeding artifacts that often appear at high-contrast edges of text or fine details, resulting in cleaner and more natural edge rendering.

Calibration and Connectivity

For long-term color accuracy, the CG3200X features Eizo’s built-in calibration sensor, which has been improved to operate more quietly. The panel covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and utilizes an anti-glare, low-reflection screen for comfortable viewing. The monitor includes a Sync Signal feature that automatically selects the correct color mode based on the incoming video signal. Connectivity options include USB Type-C with up to 60W power delivery, DisplayPort, and HDMI inputs. A set of burn-in protection features is also included, and a magnetic hood is provided in the box. The product comes with a five-year manufacturer warranty.

The ColorEdge CG3200X is scheduled to be exhibited at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam and Inter BEE 2026 in Chiba, where visitors can test the monitor in person. Shipments are expected to begin in late 2026, with availability varying by region.
