AOC Agon Pro AG326UZD2 Review: 4K/240Hz QD-OLED Cheaper Than MSI, But Worth It?

AOC has unveiled the new AGON PRO AG326UZD2, a 32-inch gaming monitor featuring a 4K resolution and 240Hz refresh rate powered by QD-OLED technology. This marks the fourth generation of Samsung's Penta Tandem panel, bringing enhanced brightness, True Black 500 HDR certification, and the new QuantumBlack anti-glare coating.

Crucially, this model utilizes the exact same panel found in the recently covered MSI MPG 322UR X24. The primary difference lies in pricing and packaging. While AOC lists an MSRP of £799 compared to MSI's £849, the MSI is frequently on sale for £799, effectively placing both monitors head-to-head at the same price point.

Design and Ergonomics

The monitor features a sleek 3-sided frameless design with a matte black finish on both the front bezel and rear cabinet. It includes built-in speakers delivering 8W x 2 of audio power, allowing for an all-in-one setup without external speakers. A Kensington Lock slot is also provided for securing the unit to a desk.

Connectivity and Interfaces

Connectivity options are robust, featuring a single USB-C port supporting Power Delivery (PD) at 65W, enabling laptop charging via the monitor. An integrated USB hub provides two USB-A downstream ports and a dedicated fast-charge port. Video inputs include two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20), facilitating dual-source connections or advanced features like G-Sync/FreeSync Premium Pro.

Testing and Performance

In the review by KitGuru, authored by Dominic Moass, the monitor received an overall rating of 8 out of 10. Testing was conducted on firmware version V2.00.

Key panel specifications highlighted include:

  • Brightness: 300 nits in SDR (at 100% APL), up to 515 nits in HDR (at 10% APL), and a peak brightness of 1000 nits.
  • Contrast Ratio: An impressive static contrast ratio of 1.5M:1, typical for OLED panels, ensuring deep blacks.
  • Color Space: Support for 1.073 billion colors (10-bit).
  • Response Time: GtG is measured at 0.03 ms, minimizing motion blur in dynamic scenes.

Special attention was given to the QuantumBlack coating, which improves contrast and reduces glare, alongside True Black 500 technology for enhanced HDR content. The burn-in and fringing tests showed results consistent with modern QD-OLED solutions.

Verdict

The AOC AGON PRO AG326UZD2 is a competitive monitor built on cutting-edge 4K/240Hz QD-OLED technology. If you are looking for a device with the same specifications as the MSI MPG 322UR X24 but considering an alternative, AOC offers a lower recommended price (£799 vs £849). However, given frequent discounts on MSI, the price gap may be negligible. The choice between models will ultimately depend on design preferences and regional availability.
