Active Matter Update 0.4.0.173: New Cover and Fire Mechanics Changes
Gaijin Network has released update 0.4.0.173 for Active Matter. This patch focuses on gameplay refinements, map navigation improvements, and fixing critical client-side crashes.
A major mechanical change involves how fire interacts with targets. Molotov Cocktails and incendiary grenades now ignite enemies instantly, removing the previous 1–2 second delay. Additionally, Devourers now take damage from flamethrowers and fire areas, and Fireballs are now correctly identified as thermal heat sources when viewed through thermal sights.
Navigation within raids has also been streamlined. Stationary evacuation points in Headquarters, Airport, and Downtown now feature more cover and are positioned closer to nearby buildings. To assist with mission objectives, hovering over a contract in the list now causes its icons and zones to pulse on the map, making it much easier to locate specific targets.
Key gameplay and balance adjustments include:
- Activating a flashlight, tactical light, or laser sight now immediately ends the short invisibility period upon spawning into a raid.
- Drones and binoculars can no longer be operated while driving vehicles.
- A bug allowing Mimics and Statues to deal melee damage to Operatives inside armored vehicles has been fixed.
- Gravity Gun issues have been addressed, preventing the creation of incorrect zones that could trap players.
On the technical side, the update fixes rare Vulkan visual artifacts on AMD and "Intel" GPUs and improves performance in areas with dense vegetation. Crucially, a crash occurring during the completion of Isolated Raids on PlayStation® has been resolved.
