YEKINDAR hands IGL duties back to FalleN

Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis is no longer handling in-game leader (IGL) duties on specific maps for FURIA. Following their victory over MIBR at StarSeries Fall, the Latvian player revealed to HLTV that he has returned the calling responsibilities for Cache, Anubis, and Ancient to Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo.

The experiment involving YEKINDAR as the IGL was partly intended to prepare FURIA for FalleN's upcoming departure, as the veteran is set to retire at the end of 2026. During this period, the Latvian was responsible for calling on the attacking side on the three aforementioned maps.

However, following the match against MIBR, YEKINDAR stated that the experiment has concluded, noting that the captaincy role does not suit him at this stage of his career. The player admitted that performing as an IGL brought significant pressure.

"I'm no longer calling and hopefully won't be in the future. We tried it to understand if I want to do this and if the team needs it," YEKINDAR explained. He noted the high level of stress involved, leading him to ask FalleN to take the maps back, a request the Brazilian accepted.

While FalleN resumes his role as the primary caller, YEKINDAR may still assist with decision-making. He clarified that while FalleN maintains control over the overall strategic direction and round concepts, YEKINDAR can help with micro-adjustments and the immediate implementation of those ideas during play.

FURIA continues its campaign at StarSeries Fall, currently holding a victory over MIBR.
