World of Warcraft Midnight 12.1.5 Overview
Blizzard Entertainment has detailed the contents of World of Warcraft patch 12.1.5, the final content update for the Midnight expansion. The update returns players to Quel’thalas and Zul’Aman for a story conclusion, introducing a new single-boss raid, a new dungeon type called Labyrinths, and zone-wide outdoor events.
The patch centers on the story campaign The Promise of Tomorrow. Following the defeat of Ula'tek, players will descend to the deepest depths of the Coiled Isle to confront the ancient foe of the Amani: the C'Thraxxi general Kith’ix. This narrative arc culminates in the new one-boss raid, The Unbinding of Kith’ix. Hidden beneath the Vaults of Ula’tek, Kith’ix was bound in a subterranean lair, but the weakening of these restraints allows the monstrosity to be unleashed. Players will face Kith’ix alongside Lady Liadrin in a focused encounter designed to cap the story of Quel’thalas and Zul’Aman.
Alongside the raid, the update introduces Labyrinths, a new type of content described as sprawling, mega-dungeon-like experiences. While maintaining the spirit of exploration and companionship found in Delves, Labyrinths are designed for players who seek deeper challenges. They feature dedicated progression systems, powerful unlocks, and rewards that reflect the scale of the challenge. Players can venture through them in a single epic session or tackle them piece by piece over time. Valeera Sanguinar will serve as the companion guiding players through these depths. The first Labyrinth, Kindo’jan, is an ancient Amani funeral complex previously sealed for centuries. Now reopened, it is contested by looters and Vilebranch while interred spirits defend it with deadly force.
The patch also adds Aqir Invasions, new zone-wide public events occurring in Eversong or Zul’Aman. For ten minutes every hour, players complete a series of public events across the entire area before facing an intense boss fight. Each invasion includes six types of scenarios—three combat-focused and three non-combat-focused—along with eight possible affixes for combat scenarios. These affixes include Void Protection, which spawns an Aqir Voidweaver creating a protective barrier; Aqir Burrower, where aqir aggressively burrow and knock players into the sky; and Void Sphere, where spheres move around the area to trap players. Other affixes include Astalor's Anguish, Swarms!, Aqir Elites, Void Infestation, and Web Weavers. Players are rewarded for completing as many objectives as possible before the ten-minute window closes.

Finally, the update introduces Ascendant Venomstones, replacing Ascendant Voidcores to allow players to push their power to new heights. To gather these stones, players must chat with Orin Straylight near the Catalyst in Silvermoon City to start the quest Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom. Once completed, Orin empowers players to acquire Ascendant Venomstones, which drop from every Heroic or Mythic raid boss, Mythic+ Keystone dungeons +10 and above, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare Prey Hunt Champion gear chests. Collecting 10 Ascendant Venomstones allows players to boost the item level of a fully upgraded Season 2 Hero, Mythic, or highest-quality Tidal Crafted weapon, trinket, or necklace.
Blizzard has invited players to join the PTR to experience the new one-boss raid, continue the story, explore Labyrinths, battle back outdoor invasions, and provide feedback on the official forums to help shape the adventures still to come.
