World of Warcraft: Midnight: Eclipse and The Last Titan

The next major content update for the Midnight expansion, titled Eclipse, will serve as the final major chapter of the Worldsoul Saga. Players will descend into the Worldcore to confront Xal’atath and her Devouring Host in an epic battle for the fate of the Worldsoul. This update introduces the Mantle Vault, a new zone inhabited by the Thraegar—an ancient race of crystalline, dwarflike creatures—and the Deepskar Empire, a coalition of subterranean factions including niffen, troggs, and kobolds.

Key features of the Eclipse update include:

• The Worldcore Raid: An 8-boss raid featuring the void, Titan constructs, and the final confrontation with Xal’atath.
• New Raid Boss: Noctinaxx, a massive azerite bat, located in the Gearhold lair.
• New Dungeon: Thraegar’s Stand, a 3-boss dungeon that will join the Season 3 Mythic+ rotation.
• Legendary Weapon: Midnight’s Edge, the first legendary caster dagger of the Worldsoul Saga, obtainable from the Worldcore raid.

Following the events of Eclipse, the saga will move toward its ultimate conclusion in The Last Titan. While specific gameplay details are reserved for early 2027, Blizzard confirmed this chapter will focus on the legacy of Azeroth's heroes and the challenges awaiting the world after the conflict with the Void.

World of Warcraft: Forever – A Reimagined Azeroth

Blizzard announced World of Warcraft: Forever, a new permanent way to experience Azeroth, launching on November 4, 2026. Positioned alongside modern and Classic WoW, this mode is set after the events of the new Warcraft III campaign but before the Molten Core era. It focuses on the original continents, allowing players to adventure up to level 60 in a world where community and the journey are prioritized.

The Forever mode introduces the Skyborne race and the Zephras Isle starting experience. Players can access the beta starting September 17, 2026 through specific upgrade editions like the Skyborne Epic Pack or the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection. Access to the game is included with any standard World of Warcraft subscription.

New PvE Mode: Talebound

A standout announcement from the panel was Talebound, a new PvE action RPG mode arriving with the Echoes of the Worldcore update. Players enter themed, macabre stories told by a mysterious Storyteller, venturing solo or in groups through levels filled with puzzles, bosses, and relics. Between adventures, players return to the village of Quillgrave to prepare using specialized NPCs: the Arcanist, Scribe, Outfitter, and Antiquarian.

Talebound features three distinct classes—Slayer, Inquisitor, and Witch—all of which utilize new movement mechanics including double jumps, dodges, and guarding. The launch will include four stories: Darkhaven, Greenthistle Wood, Greywake's Expedition, and the Grove of the Night Court. A PTR preview is expected in October.

Warcraft III: Reforged – Forsaken Kingdom

For the first time in over two decades, Warcraft III: Reforged is receiving a brand-new campaign: Forsaken Kingdom. This story bridges the fall of Lordaeron with the rise of the Undercity, following Sylvanas Windrunner and the newly risen Forsaken as they fight for survival beneath the surface. The expansion includes a prologue, three story chapters, and a new neutral Forsaken Paladin hero unit. It is available now on the Battle.net Shop.

Season 3 Updates and Mythic+ Changes

The Eclipse update will also trigger Season 3, which introduces significant changes to the competitive landscape. Most notably, Mythic+ rewards for the top 1% and top 5% will now be determined by a player's ranking within their specific specialization rather than their overall rating. The Season 3 dungeon rotation will include Thraegar’s Stand alongside legacy dungeons like The Underrot and Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr, as well as updated versions of Magisters’ Terrace and Maisara Cavern.
