Wisper apologizes for criticism of former LGD teammates over TaiLung ban
Adrián "Wisper" Céspedes Dobles has issued a formal apology to his former LGD Gaming teammates after sparking controversy regarding the ban of Santiago "TaiLung" Olivos ahead of The International 2026. Speaking out of frustration, the player had incorrectly suggested that some roster members were satisfied with the situation, a claim he now admits was unfounded.
The incident unfolded during an appearance on La Sopa Podcast, where Wisper discussed the impact of losing his mid laner shortly before the major event. He criticized Matheus "KJ" Diniz and Yuma "Yuma" Langlet for their reactions, claiming they appeared happy about the outcome while emphasizing his close personal relationship with TaiLung. These comments drew sharp criticism from the wider Dota 2 community.
In his new statement published on X, Wisper clarified that he could not truly know how his former teammates felt and apologized for misrepresenting their emotions. He stressed that exposing a potential threat to competitive integrity was never wrong and reiterated his absolute stance against match-fixing, noting that his personal connection to TaiLung does not alter this position.
Contextually, TaiLung was removed from the LGD Gaming lineup just before The International 2026 and received a lifetime ban from PGL tournaments. The organization replaced him with Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen, and the team ultimately finished in 9th–13th place. Following the tournament, the contracts of the original roster expired on August 24, severing ties between Wisper and the organization under those agreements.
Wisper took full responsibility for expressing himself poorly and causing negative attention, stating: "I am very sorry that my words disappointed so many people. I hope that I can earn back your trust through my actions." He confirmed he remains completely against match-fixing and did not intend to criticize the decision to expose a situation affecting competitive integrity.
