We Were Here Tomorrow: New Trailer Reveals Norček Industries

We Were Here Tomorrow arrives on Xbox Series X|S this October, bringing a new chapter to the acclaimed co-op puzzle series. Developed by Total Mayhem Games, the title expands the franchise’s signature asymmetric gameplay with time-based mechanics and a retro-futuristic narrative set within the mysterious Norček Industries facility.

The game follows two explorers who awaken in a strange research complex after a rescue mission in Antarctica goes wrong. They are greeted by Kathleen Bowe, the director of Norček Industries, who claims to need their help to continue the work of a missing research team. As players delve deeper into the facility, they uncover a mystery centered around an interdimensional rift and the corporation’s ambitious, potentially dangerous research program.

A key innovation in We Were Here Tomorrow is the integration of time travel into the puzzle design. In areas like the Greenhouse, players do not experience the same moment simultaneously. Actions taken by one player in the past directly impact the environment for the other player in the future. This mechanic requires partners to carefully describe their surroundings and reason about cause and effect, using their walkie-talkies to bridge the temporal gap between their separate realities.

The game also introduces shared-space puzzles that challenge traditional spatial reasoning. In the Office of Tomorrow, gravity and architecture behave unpredictably, requiring players to navigate and experiment together within a single, distorted environment. This approach evolves the series’ formula by allowing for collaborative traversal and creative tool usage, rather than relying solely on communication between two completely isolated locations.

Communication remains the core of the experience, as seen in the Optics Lab. Here, players can see each other but remain in different spaces. This setup creates a unique challenge where proximity does not equal ease; players must still clearly articulate their observations to solve complex laser refraction sequences. The developers note that this partial visibility can actually increase the potential for misunderstanding, making clear communication even more critical.

Later in the adventure, the narrative takes players Beyond the Rift, into an area described as a genuine step into the unknown. This section of the game is designed to feel entirely unlike the familiar world of the previous entries, offering a fresh and mysterious environment to explore.

We Were Here Tomorrow is available for pre-order and will launch on Xbox Series X|S in October 2026. The game features a nostalgic synthwave soundtrack and emphasizes the unique moments of cooperation, confusion, and triumph that define the We Were Here series.
