Warshift 2: Machines of Madness Strategy Tips
Warshift 2: Machines of Madness is out now on Xbox and PC, offering a unique blend of strategy, action, and RPG elements. Developed by Cyril Megem and published by Fortell Games, the game allows players to switch between real-time strategy and third-person action modes on the battlefield. With a target performance of 4k60 FPS on Xbox Series X and support for Xbox Play Anywhere, the title provides a seamless experience across consoles, PC, and ROG Xbox Ally devices.
The core design philosophy of Warshift 2: Machines of Madness is to keep the commander directly involved in the combat. As Cyril Megem explains, the game allows you to plan large-scale operations, organize your forces, and then fight directly beside them when the situation becomes critical. This hybrid approach is supported by seven distinct game modes, ensuring hundreds of hours of gameplay through single-player campaigns, interactive training missions, and custom skirmishes against AI.
Tactical Unit Management
One of the most effective ways to control the battlefield is to issue orders to your forces without leaving third-person Action mode. You can create several unit groups in Strategy mode, enter the battlefield, and direct specific groups toward targets while fighting alongside your army. This retains tactical control even during intense close-quarters combat. Additionally, you can enable AI control for your factories to automatically produce chosen units and send them directly into battle, allowing you to focus on broader strategic decisions or personal combat.

Ark Positioning and Orbital Strikes
The Ark, your mobile homebase, can be relocated between four designated landing zones on the map. While landed, it can produce any type of unit and construct buildings. When airborne, production is limited to aircraft, but the Ark can still launch Orbital Strikes. These strikes serve as devastating area-of-effect weapons against concentrated enemy forces. A well-timed surprise strike can eliminate entire enemy formations and instantly deprive the opposing army of its offensive momentum. Use the Ark's mobility to position it above enemy forces, bring them within orbital-strike range, and deliver fire support before relocating.

Aviation and Superunits
Do not underestimate the power of aviation. Aircraft are highly mobile and can quickly re-deploy across the battlefield to reinforce threatened positions, intercept enemy forces, or support an attack. Entering hero flight mode also helps you navigate the map much faster, which is sometimes the only way to reach distant areas. After a battle, remember to return your air squadrons to the Aircraft Carrier. Once aboard, damaged units will be repaired, and lost planes can be replaced to restore the squadron to full strength before its next deployment.

For overwhelming power, deploy superunits like Battleships and Aircraft Carriers. These heavy units can project massive force onto a critical section of the front. Deploying one of these superunits at the right moment can break a fortified position and shift the balance of the entire battle to your favor.
Alien Forces and Evolution
Playing for the Alien forces unlocks new strategies with unique strengths and weaknesses. The key mechanic for this faction is Evolution, which allows you to transform alien units into more powerful, higher-tier units during battle. It is crucial to protect the cocoons while they evolve, then use the upgraded forces to strengthen your next attack. This dynamic adds a layer of risk and reward to alien gameplay, requiring careful management of your evolving army.

Skirmish Customization
In Skirmish mode, you can customize the enemy's tactics to suit your playstyle. The Enemy Tactics setting allows you to choose anything from defensive behavior to extreme aggression. This determines whether your opponent spends time assembling a large army before attacking or continuously pressures you with waves of smaller units. You can also add one or more Support Avatars to your team and the enemy team. These AI-controlled heroes can dramatically change the battle flow and add variety. Using an uneven number of Support Avatars is an effective way to adjust the balance between the two sides.

Warshift 2: Machines of Madness is available for purchase in the Microsoft Store for $19.99. With its deep tactical layers and dynamic action, the game offers a comprehensive experience for strategy and action fans alike.
