Way of the Hunter 2 officially released on PC, PS5, and Xbox
The open-world hunting simulator Way of the Hunter 2 is now available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Published by THQ Nordic, the game makes its full release following a period of early access that began on PC in March of this year.
Set across the vast wilderness of North America and Africa, the game tasks players with tracking a wide variety of wildlife. From moose and bison in New Laurentia to lions and crocodiles in the Kirimaya region, the environments offer diverse hunting scenarios. A major addition to the gameplay is the use of hunting dogs, which can be trained to track scents, follow blood trails, and assist in locating wounded prey.
The developers at Nine Rocks Games have introduced several features focused on realism and depth:
- Individual Trophy System: Animals now feature unique models based on their age, sex, and physical condition.
- Enhanced Shot Camera: An improved ballistic camera allows players to analyze bullet trajectory, velocity, and impact angles.
- Ecosystem Management: Players can influence the environment by restoring habitats or managing invasive species.
- Co-op Mode: The game supports two-player cooperative hunting.
Existing owners of the original Way of the Hunter are eligible for a discount on the sequel and will receive the Night Hunting Pack DLC for free on the same platform. THQ Nordic also announced long-term support via the “Season One Season Pass,” which will include eight DLCs over the next year, adding new biomes, species, and equipment.
Physical editions for PlayStation 5 are scheduled for release on November 26, 2026.
