Valor Mortis system requirements cut ahead of launch
The system requirements for the first-person soulslike Valor Mortis appear to have been significantly lowered just before its scheduled launch on October 13. The update was spotted on the game's Steam page.
Previously, the game demanded relatively high-end hardware. During the demo release in June, the minimum specs included an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-11700, paired with an AMD Radeon RX 6700 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super. The current listing has shifted to more budget-friendly options: Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i5-10600K, and RX 5600 XT or GTX 1660 Ti graphics cards.
While the GPU and CPU demands have dropped, the SSD space requirement has seen a slight increase, moving from 50GB to 60GB. It is worth noting that One More Level has not officially announced these changes, meaning the Steam specs might still be subject to adjustment, though they are unlikely to change so close to release.
However, performance may still be a concern for lower-end setups. Testing on a GTX 1070 at 1080p/Low settings with upscaling shows an average of 41 FPS in demanding open-air sections, accompanied by stuttering and frame rate drops. For a smoother experience, players will likely need a more consistent supply of VRAM.
