Tropico 7 adds Switch 2 version
The dictator simulation Tropico 7 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. This was announced by publisher Kalypso Media and developer Gaming Minds Studios.
The game is scheduled to release on January 28, 2027. The Switch 2 version will launch alongside previously announced versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store). Engine Software is handling the port for the Nintendo console.
The Special Edition for the handheld platform will be specifically optimized to utilize the console's unique features. This includes support for mouse controls via Joy-Con 2 controllers for more precise island management and construction, as well as GameChat for voice communication and screen sharing. Players will be able to experience the five campaign maps on the go.
Tropico 7 introduces several new mechanics, such as a revamped Council system for negotiating with faction leaders and a terraforming feature that allows players to reshape the landscape by raising land or creating new islands. Additionally, the game features a reworked military system for direct unit control and expanded customization options for El Presidente and his palace.
