Trophy Games acquires Playrion from Paradox Interactive
Danish studio Trophy Games has acquired Playrion, the developer of Airport Simulator: First Class, from Paradox Interactive. The acquisition marks the largest in the Danish studio's history and includes 30 employees joining the team.
The acquisition consists of a €2.25 million upfront payment and a three-year earn-out based on net revenue performance. Søren Gleie, founder and CEO of Trophy Games, stated that the company has had Playrion on its radar for four years, viewing the move as a strategic match that could serve as a new growth pillar for the studio.
In Paradox Interactive, the company explained that the transaction is part of a move to align operations around developing and publishing strategy and management games for PC and consoles. Meanwhile, Playrion is recognized as a highly skilled mobile game developer with a strong track record.
Trophy Games intends to use Airport Simulator as the foundation for a new series of simulation games, following a similar model used in 2021 with the acquisition of Airline Manager 4. With six games currently in development, the company has updated its 2026 financial outlook, raising projected revenue to between €22.8 million and €24.1 million.
