South Korea's Pokémon UNITE Reaches Semifinals at Asian Games
The South Korean national team for Pokémon UNITE has advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, guaranteeing themselves at least a bronze medal.
On September 27, South Korea defeated Singapore 2-1 in the quarterfinals held at Aichi Sky Expo in Japan. The victory secures their spot in the semifinals as they continue their pursuit of a podium finish.
The South Korean squad features Kim Jae-young, Park Seong-soon, Lee Ji-hwan, Cho Min-hyuk, and Jin Su-bin. Jin Su-bin served a dual role as a player and a ban/pick coach, bringing professional experience from other MOBA titles. The team's youngest members are Park Seong-soon and Cho Min-hyuk, both born in 2008.
While the official objective set before the tournament was to secure a silver medal, team captain Kim Jae-young expressed a drive for gold, fueled by confidence gained during practice matches.
This achievement follows South Korea's gold medal in fighting games on September 26, marking another successful moment for the nation's esports delegation at the games. The team now moves toward the semifinals with the goal of reaching the finals.
