Spear plus dagger equals domination: the complete class and build breakdown for Throne and Liberty

In Throne and Liberty, your “class” is really the combination of the two weapons you equip. That single choice gives you 12 active skills, 8 passive skills, and a very different role in PvE, arenas, open-world PvP, or large guild fights. The value of each build also changes over time depending on gear progression and the T1, T2, and T3 eras of the game.

Healers

Bow + Wand is the gold-standard support combination in almost every patch cycle. Bow provides regeneration, cleanse tools, cooldown support, and one of the best group utility marks in the game, while Wand adds burst healing, group healing, and shields.

Wand + Staff is a more offensive healer that stays comfortable in solo content thanks to curse-based sustain. Wand + Sword and Shield plays like a tank-support hybrid, while Wand + Daggers is a niche mini-PvP setup built around sneaky engage tools and sleep effects.

Tanks

Sword and Shield + Greatsword remains the only truly universal front-line tank. It brings hard control, aggro tools, and defensive coverage for the entire party. Sword and Shield + Wand adds supportive utility and extra crowd control, while Sword and Shield + Spear shines as a disruptive anti-carry setup with a huge amount of lockdown.

Greatsword + Wand is a strange but workable hybrid that can temporarily cover missing tank or healer responsibilities if the player understands TL’s systems deeply enough.

Magic damage dealers

Wand + Sword and Shield, often described as a “bomber,” can delete targets by stacking curses and detonating them at the perfect moment. Staff + Bow is one of the best PvE classes in the game thanks to range, AoE damage, and self-sustain. Staff + Daggers is a large-scale PvP monster built around stealth positioning and devastating ranged burst, while Wand + Staff offers a safer hybrid package for general content.

Physical damage dealers

Spear + Daggers is the standout meta pick at the start of the game, especially in T1, because its ricocheting AoE pressure can erase stacked groups. Bow + Crossbow is a superb PvE and arena damage setup, while Greatsword + Daggers excels in small-scale assassination play. Spear + Greatsword offers a tougher bruiser-style DPS option, Crossbow + Daggers becomes more threatening later in progression, and Bow + Daggers fills a reliable large-scale ranged pressure role.

The real lesson

There is no single forever build in TL. The best players build around context: raid size, enemy composition, current gear era, and what their group actually needs. If you treat weapon combinations as rigid class labels, you miss what makes Throne and Liberty interesting in the first place.
