Thief: The Dark Project Remastered launches December 3
The pioneer of the stealth genre is returning to modern hardware. Publisher Atari, alongside developers Nightdive Studios and Eidos Montreal, has officially announced that Thief: The Dark Project Remastered will launch on December 3, 2026.
The remaster of the 1998 Looking Glass Studios classic will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. Built on Nightdive Studios' proprietary KEX Engine, the release features enhanced textures, models, and animations, supporting up to 4K resolution and 120 FPS.
The package includes the original game's 12 missions plus all content from the Thief: Gold update, which adds three new missions and five new enemy types. Beyond visual upgrades, players can expect quality-of-life improvements such as a weapon and item wheel, a mission selector, and built-in support for custom campaigns. Modern controller features, including rumble and motion/gyro controls, are also included.
