Thermal Grizzly now offers delidded Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 CPUs, backed by warranty
Thermal Grizzly is expanding its lineup of delidded processors by adding the new AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. Previously, the company offered delidded versions for AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Ryzen 9 9850X3D, and Ryzen 9 9950X3D, as well as Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and Core 7 270K Plus CPUs. Enthusiasts can now access direct-die cooling without performing the risky delidding procedure themselves.
What changed and why it matters
Delidding a processor allows for significantly lower temperatures under load by providing direct access to the die, which is helpful for overclocking. However, this process typically voids the manufacturer's warranty and carries a risk of damaging the chip or its contacts.
Thermal Grizzly mitigates these risks: each CPU is expertly delidded and validated by the company's in-house experts. The key advantage over DIY delidding is that buyers are protected by Thermal Grizzly's own warranty, ensuring coverage even after the heat spreader has been removed.
Pricing and contents
The delidded Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 costs €1,199. This is slightly more than the stock CPU but offers a safer alternative to DIY modifications. Each unit includes the CPU itself and a USB stick containing details of testing and validation for the processor.
