Steam Deck Mod Turns Handheld Into Sleek Modern Game Boy
The r/SteamDeckModded subreddit is buzzing this week about an impressive project called SteamBoy. The mod was created by Reddit user u/PhyFawkes, who realized that the compact size of the Steam Deck's motherboard could be adapted into a Game Boy form factor.
Technical Specifications and Display
Despite the radical change in chassis, the core display specifications remain intact: it is still an OLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. However, the screen resolution has been bumped up to 1200x1080 pixels, offering a sharper image than standard solutions.

Thermal management is a critical challenge in such a compact build. The creator managed to keep CPU temperatures below 80°C by using just a single 30mm fan and applying undervolting techniques to reduce heat output.
