SSA Service Releases SU2-TCDC10M USB-C to DC Adapter Cable
SSA Service has released the SU2-TCDC10M, a power adapter cable that allows retro game consoles to be powered by modern USB Type-C chargers. Priced at 1,280 yen, the accessory bridges the gap between legacy hardware and contemporary power delivery standards.
The SU2-TCDC10M is a dedicated power conversion cable featuring a female USB Type-C connector and a male DC plug with a center-negative polarity. It is designed to function as a power source for compatible retro consoles when paired with an external USB Power Delivery (PD) charger rated for at least 45W and a standard USB Type-C cable. The cable itself measures approximately 10 cm in length.
According to the retailer Kaden no Ken-chan, the device has been tested and confirmed to work with several classic systems, including the Famicom, New Famicom, Super Famicom, Mega Drive, PC Engine, and Sega Master System. The retailer also noted that the setup can be used to power a Famicom via a mobile battery, offering a portable alternative to traditional AC adapters.
Users must exercise caution regarding polarity compatibility. The product packaging explicitly states that the cable is not compatible with devices featuring a center-positive DC plug, such as the Twin Famicom. Connecting the cable to incompatible hardware with reversed polarity may cause malfunction or physical damage to the device. The SU2-TCDC10M is available for purchase through major Japanese e-commerce platforms, including Amazon and Rakuten.
