SlashZero: Details on the Anime-Style Roguelike Action Game
At Tokyo Game Show 2026, the 4Gamer booth showcased gameplay details for SlashZero. Developed by Streetlamp Studio and published by Skystone Games, this upcoming title is a fast-paced 2D roguelike action game featuring anime-inspired 3D graphics and a cyberpunk setting.
In SlashZero, players take on the role of "time hackers" navigating through collapsing timelines. The mission is to track down and defeat HIEROS-I, the entity responsible for the world's destruction. The game utilizes high-quality 3D models with an anime aesthetic, featuring dynamic camera work that seamlessly transitions from cinematic cutscenes into side-scrolling action without breaking immersion.

The combat is designed for speed and precision, incorporating double jumps, air dashes, and a variety of special moves. Enemies provide clear visual cues before attacking, allowing players to master combos and timing. This focus on readability ensures that the high-speed encounters feel fair rather than arbitrary.

A core pillar of the experience is the roguelike build-building system. As players progress through stages, they can acquire various buffs and enhancements. These can range from adding debuffs to standard attacks and increasing area-of-effect damage to unlocking entirely new abilities or defensive buffs. Players also choose their path through the game world, with different routes offering different sets of upgrades.

Currently, three playable characters have been revealed:

- Nix, a melee specialist wielding twin blades;
- Fina, a long-range combatant using dual pistols;
- Hamlet, a mech-like knight utilizing a transforming sword and shield.

Following a playtest in early 2026, SlashZero is currently undergoing adjustments based on player feedback. A specific release date and pricing have not yet been announced. The game is slated for PC and PlayStation 5.
