Samsung announces 2027 Odyssey monitors with 1,100 Hz IPS and 720 Hz QD-OLED modes
Samsung has officially unveiled its 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup at Gamescom 2026, introducing a new generation of displays focused on extreme refresh rates and advanced panel technologies. The announcement covers four distinct models: the Odyssey OLED G9, OLED G8, OLED G7, and the G6. While three of these units utilize Samsung Display's fifth-generation QD-OLED panels, the G6 stands out as a Fast IPS alternative targeting the highest possible refresh rates. This lineup represents a significant push into ultra-high-frequency territory, with models reaching up to 1,100 Hz and 720 Hz operation modes.
Odyssey OLED G9: Dual Mode Performance
The flagship Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ) utilizes a 49-inch fifth-generation QD-OLED panel featuring Penta Tandem technology and an RGB Stripe subpixel layout. The native resolution is 5120 × 1440 running at 360 Hz. However, the standout feature is its Dual Mode capability. By reducing the resolution to 2560 × 720, the panel can boost its refresh rate to an impressive 720 Hz. Samsung claims a peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits within a 3% window and a GtG response time of 0.03 ms.
Odyssey OLED G8: Versatile Refresh Rates
The Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ) is a 32-inch model that also employs the fifth-generation QD-OLED technology but offers three distinct operating modes to suit different use cases. It supports 4K resolution at 360 Hz, QHD at 520 Hz, and Full HD at 680 Hz. This model includes DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 connectivity, USB-C with 98 W Power Delivery, KVM functionality, and support for both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible.

Odyssey OLED G7: A New Curved Form Factor
Samsung is expanding its curved OLED offerings with the Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ), a 42-inch display that marks the company's first 16:9 curved OLED gaming monitor. It features a 3840 × 2160 resolution at 165 Hz with a 1000R curvature. Unlike the G9 and G8, this model does not currently have an announced lower-resolution high-refresh Dual Mode.

Odyssey G6: The Fast IPS Speed Demon
The Odyssey G6 (G60H) is a 27-inch monitor using a Fast IPS panel. It targets the highest refresh rates in the lineup, reaching up to 1,100 Hz in HD mode, an increase from the previously announced 1,040 Hz. Its native QHD mode runs at up to 600 Hz. The panel has a rated 1 ms response time and is scheduled for global availability in the second half of 2026.

Availability and Pricing
Samsung has not yet announced pricing for any of the four monitors. Availability for the three OLED models will vary by market, with specific launch dates to be confirmed later. The G6 is the only model with a confirmed global release window in H2 2026.
