Riot Games to Dedicate League of Legends Season 3 Act 2 to Music

Riot Games has officially confirmed that the second act of League of Legends Season 3 will revolve around a music theme, with the first major announcement scheduled for September 9.

In addition to the thematic shift, developers revealed significant updates to Ranked 5s arriving in patch 26.18. The mode introduces a new strategic draft system that resembles the Clash format, allowing players to view opponents' names and their most frequently used champions before bans and picks begin. This information aims to help teams prepare more effective drafts and identify priority targets.

The queue windows for Ranked 5s will also be extended to accommodate more playtime. On Fridays, the mode opens earlier, while on Sundays it will run longer in some regions, extending into early Monday morning. Rewards for this first phase include a special banner and icon reflecting the highest rank achieved, alongside an exclusive emote.

The new music-themed act will also influence the next ARAM set, titled Mayhem, where musical bands will directly impact match conditions with new missions and augments. Riot plans to gradually unveil the rest of the materials for Act 2 over the coming weeks.

This Dev Update serves as the final preview before the start of Worlds 2026, which kicks off on October 15 in Los Angeles and concludes with the final match on November 14 in Brooklyn, New York.
