PS5 firmware update expands ‘Top 10 Most-Played’ list

With the release of firmware update 26.06-14.00.00 for PlayStation 5, Sony has expanded the reach of its «Community Activity» widget. Users in regions outside the US can now view a list of the top 10 most-played games in their specific area directly from the Welcome Hub.

Interface changes and new features

The most notable addition is the expansion of the trending games widget. Interestingly, the implementation differs from the initial US version: the new widget no longer displays the total number of players, opting instead for a simple numbered list. While this removes granular player data, it provides a streamlined way to see what is currently trending.

The update also includes several technical adjustments. For PS5 Pro owners, the «Enhanced PSSR Image Quality» toggle is now enabled by default. Additionally, a new optional speaker indicator has been added for users utilizing voice chat features.

Current top 10 in the UK

As of the update, the top 10 most-played games in the United Kingdom (UK) include:

  • Fortnite
  • Minecraft
  • GTA V (PS5 version)
  • Rainbow Six: Siege
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Marvel Rivals
  • SKATE.
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
  • Marvel’s Wolverine
  • Battlefield 6

While the widget offers a simplified view of community trends rather than comprehensive statistics, it adds a layer of social context to the console's home screen. It remains to be seen whether Sony will eventually reintroduce player counts or stick to this simplified list format.
