Philips’ new 34in 280Hz gaming monitor sports 5th-gen QD-OLED tech and a built-in KVM
Philips has officially released the Evnia 34M2C8600P, a 34-inch ultrawide gaming monitor. The device features 5th-gen QD-OLED technology, the brand's signature "Ambilight" RGB lighting, and a built-in KVM switch. Designed for immersion, it offers a fast 280Hz refresh rate and a curved panel.
Panel technology and image quality
The monitor features a WQHD panel with a 3440×1440 resolution, a 280Hz refresh rate, and a claimed 0.03ms GtG response time. It also carries a ClearMR 15,000 rating, ensuring motion clarity for competitive gaming. By utilizing 5th-gen QD-OLED with an RGB V-Stripe pixel layout, Philips aims to eliminate the text blurring and color fringing issues seen in older QD-OLED generations. Additionally, a specialized film has been applied to reduce reflections in bright environments.
Color performance includes 99.3% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and a peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits. The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified. With an 1800R curve and a pixel density of 109.68 PPI, the display is designed to provide an immersive experience for both gaming and media consumption.
Connectivity and productivity features
The Evnia 34M2C8600P is also equipped for productivity with a built-in KVM switch supporting PiP/PbP (Picture-in-Picture/Picture-by-Picture), allowing users to control two machines with one set of peripherals. A USB-C port provides video input and up to 90W of power delivery, simplifying desk setups.
The Ambilight technology extends the on-screen colors onto the wall behind the monitor, and this can be further expanded to smart lights via AmbiScape. Connectivity options include two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 input, a two-port USB hub, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and two 5W speakers. Ergonomic adjustments include 150mm of height, 20° swivel, and tilt ranging from -5° to +20°.
