Philips 34B2U5900C: 5120x2160 Business Monitor with 240Hz Mode
Philips has announced the 34B2U5900C, a 34-inch curved ultrawide monitor designed primarily for business use but equipped with a dual-mode refresh rate that supports gaming. The display offers a choice between 5120×2160 resolution at 120Hz and 2560×1080 at 240Hz, allowing users to switch between high pixel density for productivity and higher refresh rates for fast-paced gameplay.
The 34B2U5900C is built on a curved VA panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio. This format provides a wider workspace than standard 16:9 displays, which Philips positions as a productivity advantage for multitasking without the need for multiple monitors. The panel features a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, 350 nits of brightness, and a 2ms GtG response time. Philips also advertises DisplayHDR 400 certification and Delta E color accuracy below 1 in the sRGB color space. The monitor is Calman Ready, enabling direct communication with calibration software for automated color adjustments.

Connectivity includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 input, and a 140W USB-C port with DP Alt Mode. The USB hub comprises one 15W USB-C downstream port, three USB-A ports, and a 1GbE LAN socket supporting MAPT, PXE, and WOL. Two 5W speakers are included for audio output via HDMI. A light sensor manages brightness based on user presence and ambient light conditions, with Philips claiming this feature can save up to 80% in energy costs.

Ergonomics include an adjustable stand with 180mm of height adjustment, 180° swivel, and tilt from -5° to 30°. A 100mm VESA mount is also supported. The 34B2U5900C is priced at £574.99 MSRP and comes with a five-year warranty.
