Phasmophobia v0.19.0.1 Patch: VR Fixes, New Props & Unity 6 Roadmap

Welcome back, Ghost Hunters. Valve Corporation has released Phasmophobia v0.19.0.1, a targeted update addressing critical bugs and quality-of-life improvements following the recent major overhaul. This patch focuses on refining equipment interactions, fixing physics glitches in VR environments, and resolving audio-visual conflicts that plagued the previous release.

The update begins with significant adjustments to the Virtual Reality experience. Developers have introduced a new VR Belt Offset option, allowing players to adjust their character's height for better comfort. Furthermore, the position of the VR player's hand has been recalibrated to ensure ergonomic usability across all major equipment tiers. This includes Tier 1 D.O.T.S Projectors, Flashlights, Photo Cameras, and Video Cameras. Valve notes that this improvement extends to future equipment as well, ensuring a smoother interaction model for ghost hunters using motion controllers.

Environmental interactions have also seen notable enhancements. The Prison Entrance map now features additional props and fingerprint interactions to aid in ghost identification. However, the team has acknowledged that the Female Hooded Denim Jacket will still overlap the Watch slightly; this specific visual bug is scheduled for correction in a future update alongside other cosmetic item fixes.

A substantial portion of this patch is dedicated to resolving complex physics and logic errors. The developers fixed an issue where correct evidence was incorrectly crossed out after using the 'I Wish For Knowledge' wish with the Monkey Paw. Similarly, interactions with the Ouija Board were stabilized to prevent animations from breaking if a player opened their Journal during an answer. Other critical fixes include allowing other players to pick up Video Cameras placed on tripods and resolving the issue where the Nell's Diner safe remained locked despite entering the correct code.

Map-specific bugs have been addressed across several locations. On Prison Restricted, the team fixed issues preventing Hiding Spots from being unblocked when 'No Hiding Spots' was active, corrected the spawn location of the Monkey Paw, and ensured the Fusebox appeared in an accessible area. In Brownstone High School Restricted, the Bone no longer spawns inside locked bathroom stalls, and players are no longer stuck on chairs in Classroom 6. Additionally, a visual glitch causing part of the ground to appear white on Point Hope Restricted has been resolved.

Audio and performance issues have also received attention. The update fixes muffled audio in multiplayer sessions caused by players dropping Parabolic Microphones immediately after activation. It also resolves an issue where Igniters would turn off upon grabbing a Firelight and prevents the Journal from playing opening sounds when a player dies. For PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users, the patch restores Voice Recognition functionality for those who had previously toggled between Voice and Text modes.

Valve Corporation has also prioritized VR-specific stability on consoles. Fixes include correcting the UI pointer tilt on PSVR2, ensuring the player character remains centered in the play space, and preventing dead bodies from contorting unnaturally when Immersive Animations are enabled. Additionally, headgear ownership logic has been refined to prevent conflicts when both PC and VR players interact with the same door.

Despite these improvements, several known issues persist. Localized text for evidence captured via Video Camera may still display incorrectly for non-English speakers, and enabling FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 continues to cause readability problems in the Journal. Players should also note that Tier 1 Firelights cannot be lit with a hand-held firelight, and Boomboxes in the lobby do not always activate. The team warns of new safe spots on Restricted maps created by blocking doors and hallways with new objects.

Looking ahead, Valve confirmed that their transition to Unity 6 is now scheduled for November, a slight delay from the original October target. They also reiterated that the Crimson Eye event remains on track for October. Full details regarding these upcoming changes and cosmetic updates will be discussed in an upcoming Development Preview.

The patch concludes with a reminder to check the full list of fixes below, which includes resolving duplicate player ID cards on lobby boards, fixing poor performance on High School Restricted, and preventing hackers from altering evidence money reward values. As always, thank you to everyone for your continued feedback and support in making Phasmophobia better.
