Perkz denies supporting the Tates and defends G2's Worlds run in long statement

Luka 'Perkz' Perković, the Head Coach of G2 Esports, has released a lengthy personal statement on X to address long-standing rumors regarding his political views and to provide context on his recent tenure with the organization.

In a post shared on November 4, Perković addressed accusations that he supports Andrew and Tristan Tate. He described himself as being "quite shocked" by the narratives circulating after returning to social media after a multi-year hiatus. Perković admitted to liking a few Tate memes around 2022—back when likes were still public on the platform—but clarified that this was a mistake. He stated that these actions had been twisted into "insanely fake narratives and storylines" about his character. He explicitly denied supporting the Tates, noting that he dislikes their views on life and their "wrongful teachings to younglings about women."

The statement also touched upon his relationship with former G2 CEO Carlos 'ocelote' Rodríguez. Perković defended his past support for Rodríguez, explaining that his loyalty was based on Rodríguez being a mentor who believed in him during his teenage years, rather than any shared controversial ideologies. However, Perković did not hold back in his criticism of how Rodríguez handled his departure from G2, describing the exit as being "ghosted" for three days and calling his former boss "a coward."

Perković also used the platform to clarify his personal political and social stances. He identified as Catholic and stated his opposition to abortion. Regarding global politics, he mentioned that he has never voted and expressed a lack of support for both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. He further clarified that he is "not a putin fanboy" and does not support war.

Reflecting on the G2 tenure and Worlds

Turning to his professional role, Perković discussed his return to G2 Esports. He revealed that his return was facilitated by a call from an individual named Alban, following his investment in the gaming cafe franchise Friendly Fire. He admitted that the announcement of his return felt like being "thrown a bit under the bus" by the organization's handling of the news. He noted that he was eventually asked to take the Head Coach position because the team required a change.

Perković reflected on a season of extreme highs and lows. He described the summer as "extremely productive," highlighted by G2's 20th LEC title following an almost flawless playoff run. However, he characterized the team's group stage exit at Worlds as "heartbreaking." He noted that he inherited a "broken and dysfunctional team" struggling with trauma and trust issues, and while he admitted he may not have performed perfectly, he emphasized his dedication, claiming to have spent 12 to 14 hours a day with players during bootcamp and the tournament.

While G2 Esports still lists Perković as their League of Legends Head Coach on their official website, the coach concluded his statement with a cryptic hint about his future: "See you on the rift (more like from a side) in 2027!" Neither G2 nor Rodríguez has issued a public response to the statement at this time.
