Paper Rex and Gen.G Eliminated from VCT 2026: Pacific Stage 2
During the fourth matchday of the VCT 2026: Pacific Stage 2 playoffs, Paper Rex fell to VARREL, while Gen.G Esports were defeated by T1. Both teams concluded their participation in the event, finishing in 5th-6th place, as VARREL and T1 secured advancement to the next lower-bracket round where they will face off on September 4.
VARREL vs Paper Rex
The series began with Paper Rex selecting Lotus. VARREL opened the match strong, taking a 7:5 lead in the first half before conceding only one round after the side switch to close the map 13:6. The score remained level at 6:6 at halftime and 12:12 after regulation, but Paper Rex won overtime 15:13 to force a decider.
The deciding map was Sunset. The teams were tied 6:6 after the opening half before VARREL won seven of the next 11 rounds. The team closed the final map 13:10 and secured a 2:1 series victory.
The match MVP was Jae-sung "Foxy9" Jung, who recorded 267 ACS, 6% above his average over the previous six months.
Gen.G Esports vs T1
T1 started Lotus with a narrow 7:5 advantage before winning all six rounds after the side switch to finish the map 13:5. Gen.G responded with a strong first half on their pick of Split and entered the break leading 8:4.
However, T1 reversed the game after switching sides, taking nine of the next 12 rounds. The comeback gave T1 a 13:11 map victory and completed the series 2:0.
The match MVP was Yu "BuZz" Byung-chul, who finished the series with 269 ACS, 7% above his average over the previous six months.
