NRG upset MOUZ to open StarSeries Fall 2026
NRG made a massive statement at the opening of StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026, defeating the second-ranked MOUZ. The North American side secured the upset, fulfilling Nicholas "nitr0" Canella's prediction that any victory in this tournament would be significant.
The series began on NRG's pick, Cache. After a deadlocked first half (6-6), the North Americans held their ground on the defensive side to take the map 13-11. MOUZ responded immediately on Inferno, utilizing a dominant T-side led by Lotan "Spinx" Giladi to claim a 13-5 victory.
Dust2 served as the decider. nitr0 took control on the T-side, leading NRG to an 8-4 halftime advantage. Despite efforts from Dorian "xertioN" Berman to mount a comeback, NRG maintained their composure to win the map 13-10 and the series 2-1, advancing to the upper bracket semifinals.
The victory earned NRG 129 points, propelling them up 18 spots to 33rd in the global VRS rankings. In the Americas, they leapfrogged paiN and DENDELE to reach 7th place, moving into the Major qualification bubble.
NRG will next face the winner of the NAVI vs. Aurora matchup in the upper bracket semifinals.
