NRG, Liquid advance in PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 Closed Qualifier
Team Liquid and NRG advanced in the Upper Bracket of the PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 North America Closed Qualifier, while Chicken Coop and Villainous faced elimination in the Lower Bracket. Six teams remain in the competition for a single spot at the $1,250,000 Romanian LAN.
The series between Team Liquid and Marsborne proved closer than expected. On Inferno, Team Liquid established a 9-3 lead on the CT side before Marsborne responded with an 11-9 advantage on their own CT side. Team Liquid forced overtime and secured the map 16-13 after winning three consecutive T-side rounds in the extra time.
On Anubis, Marsborne took the first half 8-4 and reached match point first. Bogdan "ogwizard" Savula led the charge to a 12-5 scoreline, and Marsborne closed the map 13-10 to force a deciding third map. On Nuke, Team Liquid dominated the first half with a 10-2 lead. Although Marsborne won the pistol round and the following two rounds on their CT side, Team Liquid won three rounds in a row to take the map 13-10 and the series 2-1.
In the second Upper Bracket match, NRG defeated Voca 2-0. On Nuke, Voca started with a 4-0 lead on the T side but conceded the next seven rounds. NRG took the half 7-5 and closed the map 13-10 after winning round 18 and four of the next five rounds. On Cache, NRG won the first six rounds of the half. Voca reduced the deficit to two points, but NRG mounted a strong CT-side effort, including three successful retakes, to win six rounds in a row and take the map 13-5.
In the Lower Bracket, the antivalue mixteam scored a 2-1 upset against Chicken Coop, while Without a Roof defeated Villainous. The qualifier continues tonight with Team Liquid facing NRG in the Upper Bracket, and Voca against antivalue and Marsborne against Without a Roof in the Lower Bracket.
