NRG head to NSTLGA Texas LAN to chase Major qualification points
Following an overtime loss to Imperial at FRAG University, NRG's chances of securing a direct invite to the PGL Singapore Major have significantly declined. According to the HLTV prediction model, their probability has dropped from 65% to just above 50%, moving them outside the current invite bubble.
With no further events remaining on their schedule, NRG has registered for the upcoming NSTLGA Texas LAN. Running from October 30 to November 1, the event serves as a last-minute opportunity to secure vital VRS points before the cutoff. Other notable participants include regain, NuTorious, and LAG.
Despite the presence of competitive names, the impact of the Texas LAN on NRG's standing remains uncertain. The tournament features only twelve teams with a scaling prize pool of $7,500, making it considerably smaller than rival events like FiRe Last Chance ($75k). Furthermore, it remains unclear if HLTV will cover the matches, which could further limit any potential point gains.
The race for Major spots is currently a battle between NRG, Wildcard, Imperial, and DENDELE, with three slots available for the four organizations. Since the other three teams remain active in the circuit—with upcoming appearances at FiRe Last Chance and Circuit X Curitiba Season 4—NRG faces an uphill battle. Even a victory at NSTLGA Texas LAN may only suffice if their rivals suffer significant setbacks in other competitions.
Additionally, Sashi is expected to attend. After signing two Australians to complement Vietnamese player Anton "Anlelele" Huynh, the team recently released New Zealander Michael "chelleos" Hawkins. Due to their unstable roster and lack of VRS points, Sashi's participation is not yet certain.
