Necrit Uncovers Documents From the First Version of League of Legends
After 19 years of searching, YouTuber Necrit found an original investor pitch for League of Legends dating back to 2007. Titled Onslaught: War of the Immortals, the document was recovered with help from Riot Games employees. The material shows how the project looked before it became a well-known MOBA.
Onslaught Project Instead of MOBA
In 2007, the game was not yet called League of Legends. In the documents, it appears as Onslaught, with a concept closer to an action RPG and a dark visual style. At that time, Riot Games had not yet decided on the final mechanics that later became the foundation of the MOBA genre.
The investor pitch demonstrates the project's early ambitions and shows how significantly its direction changed during development. The visual style at that time was considerably darker than the modern perception of the game.
