NBA 2K25 servers to shut down on December 31
2K has announced the upcoming sunset of NBA 2K25. Servers are scheduled to shut down on December 31, 2026, effectively disabling online features and critical single-player modes.
Starting January 1, 2027, all multiplayer and online modes will be unavailable. This shutdown will impact the MyCareer mode, the game's single-player story campaign, because it relies on in-game currency linked to 2K servers for player upgrades.
Players who already own the title will still be able to play offline modes, such as Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA. Additionally, NBA 2K25 is set to be delisted from digital storefronts on October 30, 2026.
This decision follows a pattern of 2K delisting its NBA titles over a two-year period. However, the publisher's relationship with the NBA remains strong through a multiyear global partnership expansion, which includes the launch of NBA Take-Two Media. To date, the NBA 2K series has achieved over 150 million units sold globally.
